(Gangan, the Hard Worker)
がんがんは、すごい がんばりやさん。
Gangan is an incredible hard worker.
かけっこで びりに なっても あきらめないよ。
Even when he comes in last in a race, he never gives up.
がんがん みゃー ぺろ
Gangan, Myaa, and Pero
プールでも、いっぱい いっぱい およいじゃう。
In the pool, he swims as much as he can.
えほんだって、こんなに たくさん よんじゃうんだ。
He even reads picture books—so many of them!
のこぎり ぎこ ぎこ、ぎこ ぎこ ぎこ。
Sawing goes giko giko*, *giko giko giko.
がんがんが、こうさくを して います。
Gangan is working on a project.
「なに つくってるの？」ぺろが ききました。
“What are you making?” Pero asked.
「ひ・み・つ。」
“It’s a sec-ret.”
かなづち とん とん、とん とん とん。
Hammering goes ton ton, ton ton ton.
「なに つくってるの？」みゃーが ききました。
“What are you making?” Myaa asked.
「ひ・み・つ。」
“It’s a sec-ret.”
ペンキを ぺた ぺた ぺた ぺた ぺた。
He paints with peta peta, peta peta peta.
「まっててね。もう すぐ できるから。」
“Wait and see! It’ll be done soon.”
「ほうら できた。ことりの すばこだーい！」
“All done! It’s a birdhouse!”
「さあ、がんばって きに かけようっと。」
“Now, I’m going to work hard and hang it in the tree.”
「あれっ、ことりさん、すばこに はいりきらないや。よーし、すばこ、もっと つくろうっと！」
“Oh no! The little bird can’t fit inside. Okay, time to make a bigger birdhouse!”
がんがんは、のこぎり ぎこ ぎこ、ぎこ ぎこ ぎこ。
Gangan goes back to giko giko, giko giko giko with his saw.
かなづち とん とん、とん とん とん。
He hammers again, ton ton, ton ton ton.
ペンキを ぺた ぺた、ぺた ぺた ぺた。
He paints with peta peta, peta peta peta.
「さあ、できた！」
“All done!”
がんがんは、あせ びっしょりに なって、すばこを きに かけました。
Covered in sweat, Gangan hangs the birdhouse in the tree.
「よかったね、がんがんちゃん。ことりさん、みんな うれしそう。」
“That’s great, Gangan. The little birds all look so happy!”
「がんがんちゃん、がんばったね。」
“You worked so hard, Gangan!”
ぺろと みゃーに ほめられて、がんがんは にっこり。
Praised by Pero and Myaa, Gangan smiles.
「そうだ！ぺろと みゃーにも、いい もの をつくって あげる！」
“That’s it! I’ll make something nice for Pero and Myaa too!”
がんがんは また がんばって、のこぎり ぎこ ぎこ、ぎこ ぎこ ぎこ。
Gangan goes back to working hard, sawing giko giko, giko giko giko.
かなづち とん とん、とん とん とん。
He hammers, ton ton, ton ton ton.
ペンキを ぺた ぺた、ぺた ぺた ぺた。
He paints with *peta peta, peta peta peta.
「わーい、わーい、ベンチだー、ありがとう、がんがんちゃん。」
“Yay! A bench! Thank you, Gangan!”
ぺろと みゃーは、おおよろこび。
Pero and Myaa cheer with joy.
ところが、すわった とたん......
But as soon as they sit down...
べき べきっ、ばたーん！
Bekki bekki, batāaan!
「いててて......。」
“Ouch ouch ouch…”
がんがんは、こわれた ベンチを みて、かんがえました。
Gangan looked at the broken bench and thought hard.
「よーし、これを つかって いい もの つくるぞ！」
“Alright! I’ll make something great with this!”
「ほーら、できた。ぶらんこだよ。」
“All done! It’s a swing!”
「わー、すごい。がんがんちゃん、ありがとう。」
“Wow, that’s amazing! Thank you, Gangan!”
「ぶらんこ ぶらんこ ぶーら ぶら。ぶらんこ ぶらんこ たのしいな！」
*Swing, swing, swish swish. The swing is so much fun!
がんがんって ほんとうに すごい がんばりやさんですね。
Gangan really is an amazing hard worker.
