(Bururu the Scaredy Cat)
ぶるるは、すごい こわがりやさん。
Bururu was really, really a scaredy-cat.
「ありさん、こわいよー。」
“Ants are scary!”
ぶる ぶる ぶる。
Shiver, shiver, shiver.
「かえるさん、こわいよー。」
“Frogs are scary!”
ぶる ぶる ぶる。
Shiver, shiver, shiver.
「すべりだい、すべるの こわいよー。」
“The slide is scary! I don’t want to slide!”
ぶる ぶる ぶる。
Shiver, shiver, shiver.
ぶるるは、ほんとに ほんとに こわがりやさん。
Yes, Bururu was a very, very scaredy-cat.
ぶるるが、ぺろと みゃーと いっしょに、えほんを みています。
One day, Bururu was reading a picture book with Pero and Myaa.
「ふあーあ、ねむく なっちゃった。」みゃーが、おおきな あくびを しました。
“Yawn, I’m getting sleepy,” said Myaa, letting out a big yawn.
「さきに ねようっと。おやすみなさーい、ぶるるちゃん。」
“I’ll go to bed first. Goodnight, Bururu-chan!”
みゃーは、いって しまいました。
And with that, Myaa left.
「ふあーあ。」
“Yawn.”
ぺろも、あくびを しました。
Pero yawned too.
「ねむく なっちゃった。ぼくも ねようっと！」
“I’m getting sleepy too. I’ll go to bed!”
ぷるるは、おばけの えほんに むちゅうです。
Meanwhile, Bururu was lost in his ghost storybook.
「こわいけど おもしろいなー。」
“It’s scary, but it’s fun!”
ぷるるは、ひとりに なると、きゅうに こわく なりました。
When Bururu was finally alone, he suddenly felt scared.
「おばけが でたら どう しよう.....。」
“What if a ghost comes out...?”
「こわいよー。はやく ねちゃおうっと！」
“I’m scared! I’d better hurry and go to sleep!”
ぷるるは、おしっこも がまんして ベッドに もぐりこみました。
Bururu held it in and slipped into bed without even going to the bathroom.
でも やっぱり、おしっこに いきたくて たまりません。
But then, he really needed to go.
「おしっこ でちゃうよー。おばけ こわいし.....、どう しよう......。えーん、えーん。」
“I can’t hold it! But... ghosts are scary. What should I do...? Sniff, sniff..."
とうとう ぶるるは なきだして しまいました。
Finally, Bururu burst into tears.
なきごえを きいて、ぺろと みゃーが はしって きました。
Hearing him cry, Pero and Myaa rushed over.
「ぷるるちゃん、どう したの？」
"Bururu-chan, what’s wrong?”
「おしっこに いきたいんだけど、おばけが こわいの。えーん、えーん。」

「トイレ、ついて いって あげるよ。」

トイレに くると、ぶるるは、ぺろと みゃーに おねがいしました。
When they got to the bathroom, Bururu asked Pero and Myaa a favor.
「ぼくが でて くるまで まっててね！」
“Please wait for me until I’m done!”
ところが ぶるるは、いつまで たっても トイレから でて きません。
But Bururu didn’t come out, no matter how long they waited.
「ぶるるちゃん、まだー？ はやく してよ！」
“Bururu-chan, are you done? Hurry up!”
「おかしいなあ、へんじが ないよ。よーし、ドアを あけて みよう！」
“That’s strange. He’s not answering. Let’s open the door and check!”
「あっ、ぶるるちゃん ねむっちゃってる！」
“Oh, Bururu-chan fell asleep!”
ぺろと みゃーは、もう びっくり。
Pero and Myaa were shocked.
「しょうが ないなあ、ぶるるちゃんは！」
“Oh, Bururu-chan, what are we going to do with you?”
ぺろと みゃーは、ぶるるを おこすと、ベッドに つれて いきました。
Pero and Myaa woke Bururu up and took him back to bed.
ぶるるは、ぺろと みゃーの てを にぎって いいました。
Bururu held their hands and said,
「ねえ、おねがい。いっしょに ねよう！ いっしょなら、おばけが きたって へいきだもん！」
“Hey, please, can we sleep together? I’ll be okay if we’re together, even if a ghost comes!”
「あはははは。ぶるるちゃんって、ほんとうに すごーい こわがりやさんだね。」
“Hahaha! Bururu-chan, you really are such a scaredy-cat.”
ぺろも みゃーも おおわらいです。
Pero and Myaa laughed.
きみは、ひとりで トイレに いく ことも、ねる ことも できるよね。
You can go to the bathroom by yourself and sleep alone, right?
