(Almost Eight Years Old)
わたしは、早おきです。
I'm an early riser.
朝になると、ぱっと目がさめちゃう。
When morning comes, I open my eyes in a flash.
お日さまの光をあびると、元気がわいてくる。
When the sunlight hits me, I feel full of energy.
生まれたてのときは、ずっと ねてばかりだったのにね。
It’s funny—when I was just born, I used to sleep all the time.
わたしは食いしんぼうです。
I’m a big eater.
前よりも たくさん食べられるように なったよ。
Now I can eat a lot more than before.
にがてだったナスも 少しは食べられるように なった。
I’ve even started to eat a little bit of eggplant, which I didn’t like before.
わたしは、あそぶのが 大すきです。
I love to play.
一人であそぶのも すきだけど、友だちと あそぶのも 楽しいね。
I like playing alone, but playing with friends is fun too.
友だちが 楽しそうだと、わたしも 楽しくなるんだ。
When my friends look like they’re having fun, I feel happy too.
友だちが かなしそうだと、わたしも かなしくなっちゃう。
And when my friends seem sad, I feel sad too.
前は そんなこと、思わなかったのにな。
I never used to feel that way before.
毎日 毎日、少しずつ かわってくることがある。
Every day, little by little, things about me are changing.
どうしてかな。
I wonder why that is?
おばあちゃんに きいたら、「それは、あなたが、生きているからじゃない？ 生きていると、かわっていくことが たくさんあるんだね。」だって。
When I asked Grandma, she said, "That’s because you’re alive. When you’re alive, you go through lots of changes.”
わたしは、今、七さい。
Right now, I’m seven years old.
八年 生きたら、もっとかわるかな。
If I live eight years, will I change even more?
百年 生きたら、もっと もっと、かわるかなあ。
If I live a hundred years, will I change even, even more?
ちょっと 楽しみだね。
It’s kind of exciting to think about.
