むかし むかし。
おおきな きの したに、なんだか へんな たまごが みっつ。
とおりかかった ひとが ひろって うちへ かえったが、
「はて さて なんの たまごだろう？」
うちへ かえって ながめていたら、あかい たまごが ぴちんと われて、なかから ちいさな てが でて あれれ.....
たまごが ぴょんと とびあがり いきなり ふところへ とびこんだ！
「あっ、おへそを ひっかいた！」
われた たまごから とびだしたのは、なんと ちいさな かみなりの こども。
ごにょごにょ ぺかぺか いなびかり。
さかさに てんまで のぼって いった！
つぎに とびだしたのは あおい たまご。
ぴちんと われて、あしが でて、さっさと おもてへ かけだした。
ぽちゃんと おがわへ とびこんだ。
「なーんだ。かっぱ だったのか。」
「はい。さようなら。」
ひとつ のこった この たまご、どうして かえらないんだろう？
あたためようにも、つめたくて つめたくて ぶるぶるぶる......
あんまり つめたくて おとしたら、たまごが われて、
ひゅ～～ どろどろ～～
ちいさな ゆうれいが とびだした。
どこへ いったかと おもったら、そのうち なきなき かえってきたよ。
「どこの やなぎにも ゆうれいが いて、わたしの すむところが ありません.....。」
「どうか ちいさな やなぎを いっぽん わたしに かってくださいな。」
そんなに にこにこ わらって いたら、ゆうれいらしく みえないよ。

**The Ghost's Egg**
Once upon a time, under a big tree, there were three strange eggs. A passerby picked them up and took them home, but he wondered what kind of eggs they were.
